My friend has a painful disease. She feels more pain in a month than I’ve felt in a lifetime. She never knows, from one day to the next, what her body will allow her to do. Sometimes she can’t move much. Often she can’t speak. So she sees life differently. Including this snow. Most folks seem to be annoyed by it or scared by it or bored by it. But not Barbara. She told me she’s thrilled to have the eyes to see it. I talk a lot about gratitude. She lives it.
