musical chairs

Remember playing musical chairs at birthday parties when you were little?  You walk around the circle all tense and nervous until the music stops, and then you make a mad dash, because nobody wants to be the poor kid left standing.  I guess Looking-Out-for-Number-One is okay when you just play for a few minutes and get cake and ice cream afterward, but it sure would be exhausting to keep playing forever.

“Six billion people live in this world, and I can only muster thoughts for one.  . . .   I wonder what it would be like not to live in a house of mirrors, everywhere I go being reminded of myself.” Donald Miller

“The whole of Christianity is freedom from self.” Dr. James Houston
