the work of an artist's hands

Recently, I have heard two strong men in their sixties, strangers to each other, say similar childlike things. One said, “I have a wide range of emotions, and I love that about myself.” The other said, “I really like the person I have become.” They aren’t seeing themselves through rose-colored glasses; they are simply enjoying the fruit of many small choices to let go of their old ways and let God change them for good.

“Every time we make a choice, we are turning some deep and inner part of ourselves . . . into something that is in harmony with God and with God’s purposes in the world or into something that is contrary to them. Each of us at each moment is progressing one way or the other.” Br. David Vryhof
