Until this morning, I was proud of myself for not joining in when people criticized a certain person. I thought I was taking the high road, but as I sipped my coffee I saw it in a new light. Inwardly, I had been judging and criticizing and condemning and distancing myself from her as much as anyone else had. Without even realizing it, I had settled on a higher rung of the ladder, and I was looking contentedly down at her. Today, I will climb down from my ladder and inwardly invite her to sit beside me in the light.
