Enough or Not Enough?

Last week, I watched a large, sleek, state-of-the-art fishing trawler pull into the harbor to offload its catch. When it docked, I saw the name on its stern: Not Enough. Since then, I have been noticing how often I, too, name things Not Enough: not enough time; not enough sleep; not enough control; not enough affection; not enough good weather; not enough energy; not enough food or drink; not enough youth. Today, little by little, I will practice naming things Enough.

“Give us this day our daily bread.” Matthew 6:11

Father, give me this day my daily bread. I will practice looking for it in all its guises and thanking You for it and naming it Enough.
