On Thanksgiving morning, we had no water in our house. The next morning, a man from the well company came to trouble shoot. When he arrived, Charlie was playing in the playroom. He heard our voices in the kitchen and scampered in to join us. (Charlie is two years old and about two feet tall.) For a few minutes, he stood looking straight up at the workman, surveying his tools. Then he made an announcement: “My daddy can fix the water.” The workman nodded respectfully. After a thoughtful pause, Charlie said, “My daddy already fixed the water.” In Charlie’s eyes, his daddy can do anything and everything. His little life is built on that rock.
“Father in Heaven! When the thought of thee wakes in our hearts, let it not awaken like a frightened bird that flies about in dismay, but like a child waking from its sleep with a heavenly smile.” Soren Kierkegaard
“As high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His lovingkindness. . . . Just as a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion. . . .” Psalm 103: 11, 13
