Yesterday, I paid close attention to my words. I practiced simply noticing.
Sometimes, I noticed myself speaking aimlessly, interrupting restful quiet.
WAIT: Why Am I Talking?
Sometimes, I noticed myself using words to be center-stage or to get my own way.
“We do not talk . . . for the purpose of display or for the purpose of victory, but for mutual joy.” Br. Richard Benson
Sometimes, though, I remembered to ask for help.
“May the words of my mouth . . . be pleasing in Your sight, Lord.” Psalm 19:14
Then, wonder of wonders, I noticed that some of my words were gift.
“Say only what helps, each word a gift.” Ephesians 4:29
