through compassionate eyes

“Treat others the way you would like them to treat you.” Luke 6:31

Hmmm. How would I like others to treat me today? I would like them to see me through compassionate eyes. I would like them to look for and focus their attention on and enjoy what is already good and strong in me. When they see my flaws, I would like them to hope and pray that I will soon be whole and healed.

“[I]n every person who comes near you, look for what is good and strong: honor that; rejoice in it. . . .” John Ruskin

Help me, Father, to see each person who comes near me today through compassionate eyes. Help me to look for and focus my attention on and enjoy what is already good and strong in them. When I see their flaws, help me to hope and pray that they will soon be whole and healed. By Your good grace, I will practice.
